Re-caps of Commencement ceremonies past

mortarboardAvailable here is documentation of Commencement ceremonies up to 2010: speeches delivered by students and honored guests, news releases, photographs, honorary degree citations, emeritus citations, and sometimes interviews with honorees.

The College Marshal provides information regarding this year’s Commencement, and documentation of Commencements back to 2011.

An historical note: It’s true; Commencement is no longer the all day affair of 1795, during which each graduating senior spoke four times.  And we no longer offer a “watermelon cart and grog-stand,” fixtures of Williams’19th-century graduation festivities.  Want to know more about the history of our Commencement ceremonies?  Click here
