Scope and Content Note

The James Owen Tryon Papers, 1880-1952 , comprise primarily the writings of James Owen Tryon, Williams Class of 1900, lawyer and author. Divided into three series, Correspondence, Writings, and Miscellaneous.

Series I. Correspondence includes Tryon's correspondence with various editors, letters concerning the Central Schools issue in Coxsackie, NY and Tryon's work in the NY Supreme Court.

Series II. Writings, include poetry, non-fiction, fiction, short stories and a play (see Appendices A-D for listings of titles). Magazines and anthologies which contain Tryon's work are also included.

Series II. Miscellaneous papers contain notes for stories, clippings, leases, receipts, and photographs. Also included are two scrapbooks comprising photographs, clippings regarding the Central Schools issue and other subjects, etc.
