The Charles Stanley Thompson Papers, 1908-1912 contain the personal correspondence of Thompson, primarily letters written to his mother, Kate Harris Thompson. CST writes of both interesting and mundane events that occur while attending Williams, describing in great detail a fire fighting incident early in 1908. An athlete and fan of all sports, CST details the disappointing losses and exciting victories of Williams football, baseball, basketball, and track teams. He complains about the tremendous amount of academic work and the difficulty of such classes as algebra, physics, and French. His letters are scattered with descriptions of holiday excursions to Pittsfield to friends' homes as well as automobile trips to Northampton on weekends. Social life at Williams for CST consisted of house parties and formal dances to which he invited a number of female acquaintances.
