Series Description

Series III, Miscellaneous correspondence is subdivided into three groups. Correspondence with Rice's first son, Richard Ashley Rice, includes his letters to Aunt May and Uncle Will regarding his undergraduate and graduate studies and teaching career, as well as letters from E.S. Wells Kerr, a Dean at Philips Academy. Correspondence from Katherine S. Hopkins to Rice's friend Edward ("Ned") K. Rawson concerns their friendship. Various collected letters form the final group.
