Scope and Content Note
The Henry Brown Hosford Papers contain various documents written by Hosford and members of his family. The box is divided into five folders. The first, Correspondence, 1843-1878, contains many letters from Hosford to his parents throughout his life concerning various topics, mostly family news and letters concerning the church. Professional Papers and recommendations, 1844-1889, contain job recommendations, as well as many papers pertaining to his ministry at the First Congregational Church in Sunderland, Mass. Williams College Essays and Orations, 1840-1848, n.d, has texts of orations and essays from his academic career at Williams, and Williams College programs, 1840-1843, contains programs from Hosford’s orations during his time at Williams. In Family Papers, 1876, n.d., there are documents relating to the Hosford family, including passages written by his sister Louisa a year before her death. The documents in each folder are arranged chronologically.
