Series Description

Series V. Political Science, 1952-1975 , has been divided into two sub-series: Courses taught by Gaudino, and Other courses and department business.

Courses taught by Gaudino in Subseries A. are listed in order of course number, from beginning to more advanced courses. These include his offerings in American politics, political philosophy, and public authority and social change, as well as special courses in Indian politics and the Williams in the City program. (It should be noted that the Contents List uses the course title employed by Gaudino, rather than that recorded in the College Bulletin.) Folders may contain syllabi, lecture notes, correspondence, etc. (Additional materials may be found among the general folders of sub-series B.) Syllabi for most courses Gaudino taught and/or developed just before his death may be found at the end of sub-series A, as may the course folder for his summer seminar in American civilization which was offered to teachers from Germany in 1965.

Sub-series B. provides alphabetically-arranged subject files that reflect Gaudino's involvement in his department and interest in the courses of colleagues. Included here are bibliographies, departmental records such as meeting notes, readings, collected course materials (for courses that may or may not have been taught by Gaudino), and comprehensive examinations.
