Provenance: In the process of cleaning out Professor Bell?s home in January 2005, the College Archivist worked with his daughters, Sophie and Cathleen Bell, to transfer the Bell Papers to Archives & Special Collections. The papers were officially deeded to the college in January 2006.
Restrictions: The collection includes several transcripts and grade-books which are restricted.
Conservation: The papers have been rehoused in acid-free cartons and acid-free folders. Some papers that had been in spiral-bound journals or in loose-leaf notebooks have been photocopied onto acid-free paper and transferred to acid-free folders. Annotations or drawings made on the original folders have been transferred to their new folders. Rusted paperclips were removed and replaced with plastic clips. Papers in binders or in plastic slips have been removed and transferred to acid-free folders.
