Series Description

Series VII.
  George and Harriet Hull Walker were the parents of Samuel Armstrong's first wife, Emma. Harriet died while Emma was quite young and George died in 1860 after a prolonged illness. Their papers, 1839-1859, include correspondence from family members regarding general family and financial matters, a journal in which George recorded daily weather and personal events, essays, and miscellaneous writings and drawings. George's business papers include receipts and invoices relating to his dry goods business, financial notes, and miscellaneous business correspondence. George acted as Secretary to the Lenox Debating Society and a volume of their meeting records, including a constitution and bylaws, is included among his papers. Oversized materials include transcripts, in George's hand, of unidentified legal proceedings and miscellaneous legal documents.
