MSS #: MC3
Volume: 7 Boxes, 1 oversized folder.: 5 lin. ft.
Processed by: Joseph Bowman and Frank Tarin, June 1989.
Provenance: The Nils Anderson, Jr. Collection, donated by Mr. Anderson (W.C. 1937) to Williams College in October 1988, contains secondary and primary source materials, which Mr. Anderson collected or created. Arrangement, description and conservation of the unorganized papers were undertaken January-June 1989in an attempt to make the collection as accessible as possible to researchers. Differing formats are now housed according to their physical needs. (Videocassettes and slides, for example, are housed separately from paper records.) The collection inventory (pp. 5-10), however, lists all materials as they follow intellectually, regardless of format. Folder titles listed in the inventory are those original titles supplied by Mr. Anderson. Annotations are included for those folders whose titles were thought inadequate to describe their contents. Seven monographs, noted in the inventory as 'shelved', were offered to Sawyer Library for the circulating collections in 2008.
Conservation: The collection was refoldered and reboxed using acid-free supplies. Acidic articles in newspapers and magazines, and loose notecards were photocopied onto acid-free paper. Metal clips, rubberbands, and staples were removed. Oversized maps were unfolded and placed in an oversized acid-free folder.
Copyright: Request for permission to publish material from the collection must be submitted in writing to the Williams College Archivist.
Processing: Processing and conservation of this collection were generously funded by the donor.
