The bulk of this series includes letters regarding the engagement and scheduling of guest preachers for Sunday services at the College Chapel. The first set of files is arranged in chronological order from 1908 to 1911. Files dated 1925-1929 are organized alphabetically by name. The reason for this change in arrangement is unclear, although it may have occurred when it became apparent that many of the preachers returned to preach on a regular basis. Many guest preachers in fact made annual or semi-annual appearances at Williams, receiving a $50 honorarium for their services and lodging either at the president's residence or the Williams Inn.
The third portion of this series is arranged in chronological order (1912-1934). These files contain Morning Chapel Service assignments for faculty members, along with scripture readings and hymns for each service. Correspondence regarding the assignments is also included. During this time period Williams men were required to attend daily chapel service, and the duties of leading the morning chapel service rotated among faculty members.
